A parked domain name is one that is taken, yet it is not associated with another service - web or e mail hosting. Put simply, this type of domain won't open any real content when you type it within an Internet browser, but no one can take it as you have already registered it and you are its owner. The benefit of obtaining a domain and parking it afterwards is that you’ll be able to keep it and not worry that somebody else may register it in the meantime if, for instance, the website for it is not ready yet. You may set a temporary Under Construction webpage for a parked domain address while you are working on the web site, or direct it to some other web address - temporarily or permanently. The latter option can be used when you have already registered domain.com, for example, and you get domain.net and domain.org, in order to protect a brand name or a trademark. In this situation, the .net and .org domain addresses can be parked and directed to the .com since you do not need different websites for them.
